課程概述

This course is designed as the introduction course about automatic control. It
focuses on the so called classical control techniques, such as the root-locus
method, Bode diagram and Nyquist criterion. At the beginning, we will
introduce the concepts of systems and the mathematical descriptions of
systems. Then we will discuss the characteristics of feedback systems. Finally
we will learn some useful techniques, as mentioned above, to analyze system
stability and performance.

After the course, the students are expected to have a solid understand about
models, closed-loop systems and some classical analyzing tools. For further
study, students are encouraged to attend advanced courses, such as Linear
Control Systems and Robust Control, e.t.c.
 

課程目標
The topics of this course are listed as follows:
(1) concepts of physical systems and models.
(2) mathematical descriptions of models, Laplace transform, transfer function
and state-space, block diagrams, and signal-flow graph models.
(3) feedback control system characteristics.
(4) the performance of feedback control systems.
(5) stability of feedback systems.
(6) the root-locus mothod.
(7) frequency response methods: Bode diagram.
(8) stability in the frequency domain: Nyquist criterion.  
課程要求
評分考試:小考 20%, 第一次期中考 20%, 第二次期中考 25%, 期末考 35%.
注意事項:Students are expected to spend at least 3 hours/week to review and
practice the materials.
